Project Blu converts a wide range of materials into high quality, sustainable designs. These include ocean-bound plastic, recycled clothes, recycled leather and discarded fishing nets.

We are constantly innovating our product range and looking for new ways to turn pollution into sustainable materials.

THE ELEATHER COLLECTION

We have teamed up with ELeather to upcycle leather that is unused and often destined for landfill.
This revolutionary process transforms leather into advanced materials, while achieving a significantly lower environmental footprint. ELeather reduces waste, increases performance, and enables brands to create extraordinary products and memorable customer experiences, while improving sustainability.
Features include:

  • - Super strong leather
  • - Lower carbon emissions
  • - Reduced use of scarce resources
  • - 90% of the water used in our production is recycled back into the process
  • - Handmade by Italian artisans

THE APPLE LEATHER COLLECTION

The leather industry is one of the most environmentally harmful industries on the planet. Chromatic tanning processes use harmful chemicals and pollute waterways. There is also a direct link to the cattle industry which is responsible for deforestation around the world. Apple leather is made from 50% apple peels (a by-product of the apple juice industry) and 50% bio-based polyurethane. The apples are harvested from orchards in the Trentino region of Northern Italy. The repurposing of apple skin prevents them from decomposing and producing methane that is also a major contributor to climate damage. Not only that, the safety and style of these products are also of great importance to us.

THE ECO-FABRIC COLLECTION

We combine ocean-bound plastic and recycled clothes into a unique fabric mix that is soft yet durable. We use this Eco-Fabric to make our beds and our fabric collars, leashes, and accessories. Our bed fillings are also filled with upcycled plastic materials. We work with local coastal communities in India and the Philippines to collect plastic waste. The plastic is collected from oceans, rivers, beaches and landfill.

Less than 5% of Ocean plastic reaches the surface or washes up on coastlines. The majority sinks to the bottom of the ocean where it is broken down into polluting micro-plastics. The micro-plastics are ingested by marine animals and the toxins are now entering the human foodchain.
